Greenhouses and Season Extension Structures
Root Nav

Greenhouses are the cornerstone of northern farming.

We are innovating new ways to build them for energy conservation

Our greenhouses and season extension structures are built for efficiency and afford-ability . We offer structures that can include passive solar orientation, thermal mass, renewable energy, co-generation and hybrids of conventional structures.
We provide several design and construction services related to all aspects of greenhouse design and construction. Whether your interested in a passive solar greenhouse addition or a simple high tunnel our crew gets them done efficiently and affordable.

We construct all sorts of greenhouses some that we specialize in are:

  • Conventional- We build all sorts of season extension structures from high tunnels nd hoop houses to production style gothic and new england frames for all sorts of budgets Our projects can come with and without mechanical, heat, and water and can be buil;t upon all sorts of slopes.
  • Passive Solar Earth-bermed - Offers protection from northern winds and can include a cave or large amounts of thermal mass. see our detailed examples of this in our project section.
  • Passive Solar Addition- attached to existing house for heat generation, green space, growing space, air quality enhancement, grey water re-use. We build thermal mass interior beds, and water elements to retain heat and offer ample growing spaces for a wide variety of plants.
  • Cave-Greenhouse- Offers 1/2 earthbermed cave(s) for growing mushrooms or plants under lights during deep winter. 1/2 greenhouse for late winter/spring/ and summer growth. These greenhouses have exceptional thermal mass, lower energy use, and offer the small farmer several options including housing.
